Hahnenkammrennen

On January 19th, 2008 my aunt, my uncle and I went to Kitzbühel. there the traditional „Hahnenkammrennen“ took place. On Friday there was the Super- G, on Saturday the downhill race and on Sunday the Slalom.

In the morning it was raining hevily in Lower Austira, but when we came to the Tyrol after3 hours the weather got better.

We looked for a good place to watch to rhe race ant after a few minutes, the race started. Afer some skiers had finished the course a very bad accident happenden. The American skier Scott McCartney crashed after jump on the legendary „Streif“. For a long time he lay unconscios by the snoy, but then he was taken away by helicopter to the hospital in Innsbruck. He was badly hurt but now he can ski again. The nxt starter was Benjamin Raich. He isn´very good in the downhill, but he hinished the race as 14th.

After 20 starters the best of the worls started. The first was Bode Miller and he reached the finish in the same time as the Austrian Mario Scheiber. Then Didier Cuche came. He is the best downhill- skier in the world. And he won the „Hahnenkammrennen“.

WE were very sad that no Austrian skier won the race, but I thin Cuche is also okay. After the flower- ceremony we left Kitzbühel. It was a very cool day.
