Hahnenkammrennen

On January 19th, 2008 my aunt, my uncle and I went to Kitzbühel. there the traditional „Hahnenkammrennen“ took place. On Friday there was the Super- G, on Saturday the downhill race and on Sunday the Slalom.

In the morning it was raining hevily in Lower Austira, but when we came to the Tyrol after3 hours the weather got better.

We looked for a good place to watch to rhe race ant after a few minutes, the race started. Afer some skiers had finished the course a very bad accident happenden. The American skier Scott McCartney crashed after jump on the legendary „Streif“. For a long time he lay unconscios by the snoy, but then he was taken away by helicopter to the hospital in Innsbruck. He was badly hurt but now he can ski again. The nxt starter was Benjamin Raich. He isn´very good in the downhill, but he hinished the race as 14th.

After 20 starters the best of the worls started. The first was Bode Miller and he reached the finish in the same time as the Austrian Mario Scheiber. Then Didier Cuche came. He is the best downhill- skier in the world. And he won the „Hahnenkammrennen“.

WE were very sad that no Austrian skier won the race, but I thin Cuche is also okay. After the flower- ceremony we left Kitzbühel. It was a very cool day.

 

 

Grey´s Anatomy

Grey´s Anatomy is an American television programm. It is about five assistant doctors and their first years at the „Seattle Grace Hospital“. The action is set in Seattle, Washington. At their first year at a real hospital the young surgeons have to work very much and so they get friends. But there are also love affairs with assistant medical doctors and other mysterious things.

The main characters are:

• DR RICHARD WEBBER: He is the chief of surgery. Her has had a love affair withe Ellis Grey, the mother of EMredith Grey, who is assistant doctor at the Settle Grace, but nobody knows about the affiar, because Ellis gets Alzheimer´s disease.
• DR PRESTON BURKE: He is the most sophisticated surgeon at the Seatlle Grace Hospital and his special field are surgeries at the heart. In the first episodes he falls in love eith the Korean assistant doctor Christina Yang.
• DR DEREK SHEPHERD: He live in Manhattan befor he came to Seatlle. In Manhattan he was married to Addison Shepherd, but she cuckolded her husband with his best friedn Dr Mark Sloan. In Seattle he falls in love with Meredith Grey. But after some time Addison comes to Seatlle and he dissociaes from Meredith.
• DR MIRANDA BAILEY: She is the insturctio of the assistant doctors. She is very strict and the young doctors give her the name „the Nazi“.
• DR MEREDITH GREY: She is the daughter of the famous surgeon Ellis Grey. She thinks that she is disadvantaged because of her mother and the situation in her family. She falls in love with Derek Shepherd, but this realationship doesn´t last for a long time.
• DR GEORGE O´MALLEY: He is called „Bambi“ because he is a real softie. he loves Meredith Grey, but she doesn´t notice that. so he gets married to Doctor Callie Torres, but finally they get divorced.
• DR IZZIE STEVENS: She is very pretty and in her first months as an assistant doctor nobody trusts her because she earns money as a underwear model.
• DR ALEX KAREV: Alex is a little bit strange. One day he is mean and then he is frindly and nice again.
• DR CHRISTINA YANG: She is the most intelligent assistant doctor of the five She grey up in Los Angeles. In the first part of the story she falls in loce with Preston Burke. The decide to married but Christina isn´t redy for this.

Some important information:

1. The name „Grey´s Anatomy“ derivtes from the main character Meredith Grey. The story is narrated from her perspective.
2. The theme song is „Cosy in the rocket“ by the Psapp.
3. Ther is a spin.off of Grey´s Anatomy, which is about Addsion Shepherd. The name of this programm is Private Practise.

  

My term holiday

On February 6th, 2008 we went to the airpot in Vienna and lather to Milan by plan. Then we took another plane to Miami. After a 10 hour flight we arrive at Miami International Airport. It was very hot and sunny. A taxi took us to Coral Gables, the richest district of Miami. After 15 minutes we reached our hotel, called „Best Miami“.

The next daywe went sight seeing. We saw downtown Miami, the Miracle Mile, a shopping mile only with things you need for a marriage and we also came to Miami Ceach or South Beach. Then we went to the Everglades, the biggest wetlands in Florida. We saw alligator and other tropical animals.

In the evening we were taken to our cruis- ship, the MSC Liraica by taxi. It was a very big ship with 2056 passengers, bars, restaurant, pools a theatre and a casino.

On February 9th we arrived in Cozumel, a little island near the coast of Mexico. We went snorkelling and saw a lot of colourful fish in a breath-taking reef. After snorkelling for an hour we went to a real Caribbean beach, with white sand, blue sea and a lot of palm trees. But an hour later it began to rain and we went back to the shio by catamaran.

The next day we staye d on the shio. It was very hot and the sea was quite calm.

On February 11th, we got of at the barbour of Limon, a city in the East of Cost Rica. This day we decided to go to the rainforests with a guide from the ship. We saw bananas, coconuts and other tropical fruit, ants, which were as big as a finger, trees which could move, sloths and a lot of monkeys. The rainforests had breatch.taking colours and at the end of our tour we had a marvellous view across the channels of Tortugero.

Our next stop was in Panama, but we couln´t leave the ship because of dangerous battles between the police and the workers in Christobal.

So we went further to Colombia. There we had a look at the Rosario Islands. At Isla del Sol we visited a sea aquarium. There we saw dolphines, sharks and other animals of the Carribean Sea.

Our last day we spent in the Dominican Republic. In the morning we went weale- watching and after lunch we went to a very beautiful beach at the isalnd of Cayo Levantado.

On Februry 20th, we traveled back to Austria by a plane of Alitalia.

English in Action

On March, 3rd 2008 we came to school like every other day, but something was different. All the studenst werde very excited because that week „English in Action“ would take place. In our first lesson we got to know Lynn. She lives in Dawlish, a town in Devon. She was our first „teacher“ for that week. The second Native speaker, we got to kno was Spike, who is from the north of Britain.

During our projekt week we talked about youth tribes, youth centres , about the Brithis salng ans so on, in English of course. Every day in the 5th lesson we had our „projekt- lesson“ in which we prepared a little presentatio. I did this presentation with Srar and Theresa. We talked about the royal family. It was really interesting to learn something about Britain´s history. In the 6th lesson we worked on a sketch. At first it was quite difficult to find the right things for us but the we decided to make a celebrity- talkshow with stars like Ni´cole Kidman, Lauran Graham and George Clooney. I think it was very funny to practise it.

On friday we presented our projekts and sketches to our parents. For instance there were projekts on „the Beatles, Heath Ledger and Kathrin Heigl“, but we didn´t have enough time to present all of them. We also performed our sketches and at last we got our certificates. I think it was great fun and we learn a lott about Britain and the English language.

Lewis Hamilton

Lewis Carl Hamitlon, born on January 7th, 1985, is an English Formula 1 driver!

His grandparents immigranted to Britain from Grenada. Hamilton´s parents Carmen and Anthony Hamilton named him after the sportsman Carl Lewis, but Carmen and Anthony separated, when Lewis was two and until he was ten he lived with his mother and his sisters Nicole and Samantha. After that he lived with his father, stepmother Linda and half-brother Nicholas.

Hamilton´s first taste of racing competiton came at competition with radia controlled cars! Little Lewis was very successfull because he finished second in the national championship. Aged six his father bought him his first „car“ as a Christmas present, and woud support his racing career as long as he worked hard at school. Sometimes Anthony did three jobs at a time to support his son´s career and still found enough time to attend all his races.

Hamilton attended “ The John Newman School“ in Stevenage. He even took up karate. By the time he was twelve, he had won his first black belt in the sport, and he also played football very enthusiastically.

Nowadays Lewis Hamilton is a very popular formula 1 driver! Hamilton is driving for McLaren Mercedes and he started his formula 1 career in 2007. In his first three Grand Prix Lewis always finished on the podium. And i the middle of the season he took the lead in the drivers champion ship. He won the Grand Prix of Montreal, United States and Hungary. But at the end of the season he only came in second at the drivers champion ship after Kimi  Raikkonen.

Hamilton has matched or set the following records in Formula 1:

° Most consecutive podiums from debut race: 9 (previous record was 2)

° Most consecutive podiums for a Brithish driver: 9 (tied with Jim Clark)

° Youngest driver lead the World Champion ship.

°Most wins in a debut season: 4 (equalling Jaques Villenwuve´s record from 1996)

° Most pole positions in a debut season: 6

Baby-eyes are big and rund,

then nothing can them ever shocking.
They are so happy, are so fine,
only in the Christmastime!
